Automatic Speech Recognition of Low-Resource Languages Based on Chukchi

The following paper presents a project focused on the research and creation of a new Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) based in the Chukchi language. There is no one complete corpus of the Chukchi language, so most of the work consisted in collecting audio and texts in the Chukchi language from open sources and processing them. We managed to collect 21:34:23 hours of audio recordings and 112,719 sentences (or 2,068,273 words) of text in the Chukchi language. The XLSR model was trained on the obtained data, which showed good results even with a small amount of data. Besides the fact that the Chukchi language is a low-resource language, it is also polysynthetic, which significantly complicates any automatic processing. Thus, the usual WER metric for evaluating ASR becomes less indicative for a polysynthetic language. However, the CER metric showed good results. The question of metrics for polysynthetic languages remains open.
Samsung Electronics Launches AI Center in Russia
Samsung Electronics today announced the opening of the artificial intelligence (AI) Center in Russia, which will be located in the --White Square-- business center in Moscow. The Center will help the company strengthen its leadership in the field of AI and explore the broad capabilities of user-oriented AI. The new Center--s main research areas will be computer vision and basic algorithms for AI platform. The Center will also expand the field of AI for key areas such as robotics, intelligent driving assistance, as well as those for future projects by Samsung. The Samsung AI Center in Russia will be led by Professor Dmitry Vetrov of the Higher School of Economics (HSE).

It is the classic defence for many men being asked to do two things at once – they can't multi-task. But the excuse that it would be easier for a woman to do it is probably right, as it has emerged men's brains work far harder to juggle tasks. Recommender System Based on Algorithm of Bicluster Analysis RecBi

In this paper we propose two new algorithms based on biclustering analysis, which can be used at the basis of a recommender system for educational orientation of Russian School graduates. The first algorithm was designed to help students make a choice between different university faculties when some of their preferences are known. The second algorithm was developed for the special situation when nothing is known about their preferences. The final version of this recommender system will be used by Higher School of Economics.
